Now I see it all - quite clearly.
It gave me no indication whatsoever that it was a program actually
running; I've seen so many screen of gobbledygook that they began to
merge I'm sure. With eyes glazing over yet again I probably passed it
off too quickly. I do recall typing Help, though, and it brought up
what I perceived to be yet another error message.
In fact I've done it again just now, and, had I persevered with it and
actually READ the screen, it would have led me to a welcome screen.
I owe a special thanks to Johnny Rosenberg and to you for picking up the
error (or my carelessness).
As for whether I asked the correct question, all I need to know was that
Python3 was installed and running. Presumably now I can revert to the
original instructions to continue my original installation.
