You might try installing Virtualbox or qemu-kvm, and install XP in a VM.
Best if the cpu is VT capable. 

 

If it were a desktop, you could transfer the hard drive and run XP right
from the drive in a VM, or image the drive and run it from a file.

 

Any way you go likely requires activation, however. But it does sound like
MS still does that...
