I got this from another list. Our dns problems are real, the major
players in the ISP game have hit a limit of 512k entries in the BGP tables
of their routers. BGP=Border Gateway Protocol.

With the growing size of this table, it was predicted by some back in May
that we'd hit the limit in August or September. Now we've hit it, and now
the guys with the really big pipes are bing forced to deploy new dns
servers with even more dram, with some software fixes to allow the bigger
BGP tables. It will get fixed in due time, but multicore machines with a
terrabyte plus of dram per core have a cost that gets the cfo's attention
& he has to be beat about the brow with a suitable cluebat before he'll
authorize the expense.

In the meantime, if you can co-erce your machines to use the google
servers as secondary lookups, it might help. I wouldn't use them as the
primary lookup because if the whole planet switched, even those will be
overwhelmed.

But I would do that only as a last resort, it really is up to _your_ ISP
to fix it. That is one of the services that you are paying them for.
