change launcher icons

Good evening
After I installed 14.04 I changed the SIZE of the launcher icons.
Fine so far.
But where there had been "pictures" for the LibreOffice Writer and Calc
icons, there are now only
orange colored folder icons = I have to remember which of those links to
what software.

Can I replace the folder icon with the word "Writer" for example?
I could not find any documentation pointing into that direction.

Although I am aware that I make myself very unpopular .. under Windows
(still using XP!) I can change the names of icons to whatever I like.
It that was possible in ancient times, it should be possible today too,
shouldn't it?
