Just stumbled on something else while following a Debian-User thread
about a non-functioning microphone [1] and simultaneously losing my
own sound OUTPUT. My microphone's recording right now, well,
apparently at least monitoring everything it hears right now. It's
fluctuating all OVER the place. BUT... I'm not actively recording.
Discovered this while bouncing between System Settings and PulseAudio.

This would be another place for usage to show up even when everything
appears to be closed and so theoretically turned off.........
