That's a qood specification. I think it will be fine with the "real
thing", the full distro.
But if you want something more like Windows, consider Mint, which is
basically Ubuntu with a more "traditional" desktop and many of the
proprietary extras built-in. There will be a new Mint LTS version
about 2 months after the Ubuntu one.

SJVN is one of the best writers ZDNet has - he really knows his stuff.
If you want some familiarity & not to relearn, go with Mint. It is
more polished than Xubuntu or Lubuntu (both of which are quite
Windows-like), and much more polished than Zorin OS. The web fora are
good too, although Mint's mailing list is a ghost town.
