Thanks for the responses. Every time Thunderbird does something it aggravates me, so it was good to hear some responses. Either Alpine or Mutt look fine. Neither off the ease of configuration which Thunderbird offers -- however I take the point that once you set it up, it's good indefinitely. -Thufir
