Raring hd-media installer doesn't work with raring ISO

Hello,

I'm having trouble with a new install using the hd-media installer and
the full ISO. It looks like the hd-media installer is looking for entries that
do not exist in the ISO's dists/raring/Release file, and then aborting.

Here's what I've done, it's pretty simple and I think exactly in accordance
with the documentation at
https://help.ubuntu.com/13.04/installation-guide/amd64/ch04s03.html#usb-copy-flexible
-

1) Start with a USB flash drive with a bootable vfat filesystem

2) Downloaded vmlinuz and initrd.gz to the USB drive from
http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/raring/main/installer-amd64/current/images/

3) Set up syslinux on the USB drive to boot those two

4) Downloaded ubuntu-13.04-desktop-amd64.iso to the same USB drive

Pretty sure I have the right files, here are the sha1sums:

552b3d59f14b0ec9787af84e4f9527bd1966d51a vmlinuz
3eb9f59aab6e6c8714b98cb8553f9c8ac9a5bcbd initrd.gz
ffed440f1dc1b43d9c170bd21e5ff669a59447f8 ubuntu-13.04-desktop-amd64.iso

5) Booting from the flash drive into the installer works as expected, and
the installer is able to locate and mount the ISO.

6) This is where it fails. Apparently it is not finding what it expects
in the ISO's dists/raring/Release file? The log is reproduced below.
I'm sure I must be doing something wrong but I don't know what that
is... any help at all would be appreciated!

(A quick Google search reveals that a couple of users have posted
about this same problem to the Ubuntu Forums since raring's release in
April, but no solution or workaround was found.)
