Printing problems after upgrading to 13.10

After the upgrade to 13.10, from 13.04, printing quit working.  Printing (CUPS)
would not work on the desktop, laptop, or my iphone.  I had to delete all
printers on both the desktop with the attached USB printer and my laptop and
then add the printer back on both computers to get printing working again.  Now
the only printing problem left (I hope) is I can no longer do 2-sided printing
(desktop, laptop, or iphone).  I have checked to make sure that all of the
printer definitions have 2-sided printing enabled.  Any ideas on what to check
next?
