Window 8 in efi mode and Ubuntu in legacy bios mode

This may not be helpful, but if I were you, I'd blow Win8 away &
install Win7 if you actually want to dual-boot.

It is now widely-believed that Win7 is going to be the next XP - IOW,
the last version that almost everyone likes & MS consequently can't
kill off. I think it will be supported for some years yet. :¬)
