I've not noticed any other issues with USB on the laptop but I don't
often connect USB devices to it, just occasionally a Kindle but that's
just to recharge it really.

I've just upgraded the laptop to 13.04 so I'll see if that makes any
difference.

It sometimes runs for only a few minutes, other times for an hour or
two.
