I don't know much about these things, but I have had alien installed for
quite a while now, but I rarely use it. One thing that I think I remember
is that when I installed alien, rpm was also installed. That brings me to
the question: Why use alien, when rpm is installed anyway? Does rpm simply
not work with Ubuntu and other Debian based distributions, and in that
case, why?
