I believe it is something in xsane that is the problem, but since
their site is unavailable, finding anything on that is a bit of a
trick.
Part of my problem is I have no idea where these bits of software
reside on my system - the sane front and back ends and any other
software it uses between there and the scanner driver (which obviously
works).
VueScan looks nice until I try to use it, then it wants me to buy it
so I can get scans without their watermark - no thanks. Xsane is
still free, so once it works again, it'll be fine.
