Net-Snmp

Hello All,

I have been trying to install net-snmp and get it working with either
cacti or mrtg.

Using snmpwalk or snmpget I am having some problems. I have also checked
this issue using a windows MIB browser named OidView only because it
shows everything going on with snmp remotely.

The issue is I can not for whatever reason get the IF-MIB to answer with
anything at all! I have dowloaded with apt-get the MIB downloader and
downloaded all the MIBS . They are in /usr/share/mibs/netsnmp,
/usr/share/iana, and /usr/share/inetf. The last two dir are symlinks. I
even copied the MIBS from inetf to the netsnmp dir just to make sure
they could be seen.

The snmp.conf file has the one line about loading MIBS commented out.
The snmpd.conf seems correct. as I can walk the system and hrSystem
MIBS. I cannot walk through any others.

Hereis the error I get using anything other than the two MIBS shown below

beau at ubuntu-snmp:/etc/default$ snmpwalk -v 2c -c public 192.168.3.8
interfaces
IF-MIB::interfaces = No Such Object available on this agent at this OID
