Because both sides agree to the arrangement. nVidia provides it's own
support for video drivers in Linux, and refuses to open it up for others
to dink with. So, there are ways of getting it installed, within the
Ubuntu scheme of things, but it cannot be directly installed. Same with
Windows. Even with them, you have to grab your driver in a fashion that
has you agreeing to their license scheme. Checking off on the "I agree"
part prevents many from completing their driver install, as it usually
pops up behind something and gets missed, or they don't know to use the
tab key to move the cursor to "I accept" and hit return which defaults
to "I don't accept". Stuff like that will kill off the install attempt.

Sorta, as they do demand their pound of flesh through tracking you and
selling that information to make a profit and hence stay in business.
So, most acknowledge that practice, and live with it, and a few don't.
But, you can bet they aren't in it for the LOLZ. :) Ric
