Debian-type Flavor w/ GNOME 2 Libraries

Attention everyone--
I need a Linux flavor (preferably a Debian-type) that uses GNOME 2
libraries. Here's why:
I *need* to use a program coded by Cisco Systems called Packet Tracer
to review lessons that I took in preparation for CCENT/CCNA exams that
I need to take. My information is that the program (Packet Tracer)
was coded with Ubuntu 07.10 and Fedora 7 in mind. I have been
informed that Canonical stopped using GNOME 2 libraries with the 10.10
release. I have no idea if Fedora still uses GNOME 2 libraries.
Any information on Debian-type &/or Fedora-type flavors that use GNOME
2 libraries will be greatly appreciated! I would prefer to use a
Debian-type flavor because all of my (admittedly very limited) CLI
experience has been on Ubuntu.
