Dual Display problems in 12.10 and Raring

I was until 12.10 died on me. I switched to Debian, but to be honest,
if anything, it's worse. I will probably switch back soon.

Currently using my 12.04 standby/spare install.

Ah, I'm afraid I only have 1 launcher. I have not tried with 2 - I
find it an unusable and irritating setup.

To do use dual monitors, on an nVidia GeFore 230. It works very well.
Ubuntu is not able to remember which monitor windows were on & apps do
not reopen on the screen they were on before; otherwise, it works very
well.
