Ah, I misunderstood your hint then. Well, I don't know which file 
contains the history, but if it is places.sqlite that would be 11 MiB.

I don't have many bookmarks - bookmarks.html is only 20 kiB.

Thanks for the command, but I don't understand what it does, so I won't 
try it. If I read "executeSimpleSQL("VACUUM")", I fear it would delete 
things I want to keep.

Actually I'm not really worried about the startup delay. I just 
mentioned my observations of the unrelated slow NFS share because it 
might give others a hint where to look for their slow firefox start.
