Adding ExFAT FS support to Disk Utility on Ubuntu 12.04

Hi,

I wanted to use an ExFAT formatted thumb drive on my Ubuntu 12.04 box, so I
installed the exfat-utils package.

I then looked for a way to format the thumb drive as exfat from within Disk
Utility - and the exfat fs isn't there on the list.

How do I add it?

I managed to format the volume using  mkexfatfs from the command line. I
feel comfortable withe the CLI, but I have a frind who loves the GUI
tools...
