Welp, that wasn't it either, but it is working "normally" now and is usable.
The entire original problem was the bonding, and something has changed in
12.04 that led to the initial failure. Then I compounded that when I went
to remove the bonding and simplify the configuration, I also removed the
vlan aspect suspecting either the bonding or the vlan might be a problem.
But the network segment being specified was still part of the original vlan
(10.10.0.0) and that just didn't work. When I used an ip address not in the
vlan (10.0.0.*), all worked. So I added the vlan configuration back and
reverted the configuration, and that is working. The only thing not working
now is the bonding which is low priority at this point. Thanks for all
