Don't wish to appear to "butt-in" on a thread but a thought has occured.

If you are going intending to use emacs's Gnus or VM for email - in
v24 stunnel is no longer required. I tried to get emacs 23 going for
email but found it was too much configuring and stunnel on debian had
an update or something and it didn't work.
