Open Source and Laptops

Hi, gang!

Anybody here know of / able to recommend me to a manufacturer of laptops
that can sell in volume without operating system installed? Or even
better Ubuntu pre-installed? Ideally, looking for machines (I know this
is hard for a laptop) that are somewhat user serviceable (with proper
guidance).
