Unity window positions

Running 12.04 with twinview.

When I start up I always open firefox and thunderbird and they open side
by side on the left monitor covering the entire screen just like they
were when I closed them. Then I open apps to work with like libreoffice
calc, a text editor or nautilus. Under 10.04 these opened in the right
hand monitor just like they were when I closed them. Under 12.04 they
always open in the left monitor covering anything displayed there.

Is there a setting to have the apps open is the same position they had
when they were closed?

I have CSSM installed but but am not sure what many of the settings do.
Is there a manual that explains these settings in detail?

Thanks, Jim
