How to decide which to use of many printer drivers offered by CUPS

I had a dot matrix printer which took some configuring. I've used all
the one's in the list in the past and a search for PPD file. Test all.
....then when the new release comes you may find like i did that the
perfect driver is there! In my case xubuntu 12.04 - such is life.
