Thanks for your answer. The BIOS has the following options:
Boot mode: UEFI / Legacy
In UEFI boot mode: Secure Boot enabled / disabled
In UEFI boot mode Windows 8 able to start. Installing Ubuntu gives
blank screen. Independent from Secure Boot state.
In Legacy boot mode Windows 8 cannot start but everything else,
including installing and using Ubuntu, is working. I did that on empty
disk and not in parallel with Windows 8 and try Legacy mode when
installed Windows 8. The disk has five partition and I do not want to
install Ubuntu in Legacy mode as might kill Windows installation. The
question is there any difference between Legacy and UEFI mode install
in Ubuntu? I mean different partitioning or different files to
install.
Therefore I need UEFI for Windows 8. Unfortunately that makes Ubuntu
installation impossible.

Documentation is crap for Acer and you are right there is no
changelog. I am using the latest BIOS now.
