I like Thunderbird, works _for_me_, the way _I_ want. Others don't like
it, for reasons that valid to their usage...

I use Thunderbird on multiple computers & OSes; multiple accounts too.
All accounts are setup as IMAP account. Filters & rules are setup on the
respective server, via their webmail interface. I only then need to
configure the servers on any new Thunderbird setup. I don't use very
many add-ons, so reinstalling those handful doesn't bother me.
For my Ubuntu & Mac OX Thunderbird setups, I've got my abook.mab file
living in the Ubuntu One folder, and a symlink in the appropriate
.thunderbird profile directory on each. Addresses sync'ed. I just have
to remember to _not_ leave Thunderbird open on 2 machines at the same
time, sync could get goofy.
I also have some local folders living in Ubuntu One as well; and
Thunderbird pointing to those. Those are for archival purposes.
