Thunderbird’s only the mail client, so using Gmail or another online service provider, your contacts would all be synced, granted you use the same email address on all T-Bird apps you have.

Like Phil, I also tend to disagree here. My point: how do you keep
your contracts in sync?

If you use gmail on your (Android) smartphone (or tablet like I do
right now) and use the gmail web interface otherwise, then this is a
no brainer - Google has all your addresses, like it or not...

How do you do that with Thunderbird? LDAP? *lool* :-(

And actually true hassle free multi device support is it, what has
made me use gmail or other web mailer basically full time since some
years.
