As another one of the volunteer moderators I'd like to help provide some
understanding of how I see the events that occurred (I've been off the air
for a week now for other reasons so haven't seen this thread until now). To
me the moderator explained it quite well. Generic hardware support is off
topic for this list, from my perspective the question "how can I tell how
hot my CPU is running under Ubuntu" would be on topic but "what is a good
temperature for my *insert random hardware chip here*" is starting to head
off topic. This sort of information is readily available from manufacturers
and as this thread did, this sort of question begs for people to start
heading further and further down the path of personal conjecture and
arguments.

A bit over the top here isn't it? Terrified? Really? You should know how
the list works as well as anyone, I believe you've been subscribed longer
than I. If you want to be put on personal moderation please feel free to
shoot an email to ubuntu-users-owner as mentioned on the same FAQ page you
quoted prolifically earlier. Otherwise the usual rules apply.
As for the tone of the message you have to remember there are many factors
that may influence the response made, things such as cultural differences
and how much time the moderator had in front of the computer to deal with
the spiralling thread can all contribute. Again, as you seem to know the
FAQ quite well why didn't you follow the instructions there and bring this
issue up with the moderation team at the ubuntu-users-owner address?
Personally I find your ability to pick and choose what information off that
page you like to follow quite intriguing.

So thank you for raising the issue for clarification, in future please do
so in a more appropriate manner. As for anyone else who would like to
discuss the issue further or have similar issues in the future please do
not hesitate to contact our team, we're all able to see emails sent to
ubuntu-users-owner at lists.ubuntu.com so feel free to drop us a line. We're
generally an amicable bunch and generally respond reasonably quickly to
emails that come through that channel.
As the previous moderator suggested further additions to the thread are not
required, if you have a question resulting from the thread that is on topic
please start a new one. If you still have questions or concerns over the
moderators actions please let the moderation team know. Thank you.
