remove cvs files

I'm somewhat familiar with svn and, to a degree, git.  I have some code 
as so:

thufir at dur:~/java$ 
thufir at dur:~/java$ ll gnu/mail/source/gnu/CVS/

thufir at dur:~/java$ 
thufir at dur:~/java$ 


and would like to remove all of the CVS files and data from ~/java/gnu/.  
It's just a matter of omitting the CVS directory(ies)?
