NM question

Greetings;

I finally got eth0 configured and working, and I found a check box in the 
NM gui that lets me turn NM off.

But does anyone know the normal timeout period when NM comes alive to 
recheck?

This is a 12.04-2 LTS for amd64 install. On an HP laptop with an amd64 
turion cpu.
