all ubuntu devs that have been to a UDS do (read: most of them) ...
usually the hotel WIFI at places where UDS takes place uses such pages

in the above case .... type in the room number and the password you got
at the reception ...
i personally haven't had issues with such pages (be it at UDS or at a
cafe) in 8 years of ubuntu use.
given that the OP isn't even willing to try with another browser or
giving us the complete results of researching his DNS setup, i don't
think anyone can help him, as sad as it is, proper support bases on
proper data from the supported version, but all we get is shouting and
pointless ranting against Firefox (which isn't at fault at all as the OP
already proved). i think i personally will ignore that thread now as it
is moving towards just browser bashing and trolling instead of moving
towards constructive support ...
