Connecting a wireless router

WS=> Well it looks like I celebrated too quickly.  I now can connect to 
the wireless router using Linux (which I prefer) but cannot connect 
using Windows.  If this was my computer, there would not be an issue,
but since this is a friends computer, I would like to return to him a 
computer that can wirelessly connect both Windows and Linux.  It appears 
that the apt-get installed firmware that now interferes with windows 
wireless connections.  Any solutions?
