I get that (terminal hanging on logout) when I run certain apps.  I
find that if I Ctrl+C it closes it ok.

Glad to be of help.  I don't actually know much, it is mostly bluff, I
get most of my answers from google :)
That may sometimes be obvious to those that know much more than me.
