receive e-mail with postfix (blocked by....?)

Its your PC under a NAT?

If you have more than one machine over the same network or are using wifi you are using NAT to do that.
if this is correct you will need to portforward the TCP port 25 to your IP address. This IP is the IP of the machine where you are running postfix.

* Post the /var/log/mail.log
* Open TCP port 25 under your firewall.
* post /var/log/syslog

Best regards!

Subject: receive e-mail with postfix (blocked by....?)

I'm trying to receive only, not send, e-mail, using dovecot-postfix. I
think I have the mx record setup correctly:

thufir at dur:~$
thufir at dur:~$ dig dur.bounceme.net mx

; <<>> DiG 9.9.3-rpz2+rl.13214.22-P2-Ubuntu-1:9.9.3.dfsg.P2-4ubuntu1 <<>>
dur.bounceme.net mx
;; global options: +cmd

;; QUESTION SECTION:

;; ANSWER SECTION:

;; MSG SIZE rcvd: 50

thufir at dur:~$
thufir at dur:~$ nslookup -query=mx dur.bounceme.net
Server: 127.0.1.1
Address:	127.0.1.1#53

Non-authoritative answer:
dur.bounceme.net	mail exchanger = 5 dur.bounceme.net.

Authoritative answers can be found from:

thufir at dur:~$
thufir at dur:~$ nslookup dur.bounceme.net
Server: 127.0.1.1
Address:	127.0.1.1#53

Non-authoritative answer:

thufir at dur:~$
thufir at dur:~$

and can send e-mail locally to myself. I want to receive e-mails from
the internet, however. I don't anticipate a need to send e-mail, and
don't want to re-send e-mail.

looking at:

http://www.anta.net/misc/telnet-troubleshooting/smtp.shtml

my setup looks ok:

thufir at dur:~$
thufir at dur:~$ nslookup dur.bounceme.net
Server: 127.0.1.1
Address:	127.0.1.1#53

at least so far as I can tell. Why do messages to thufir at dur.bounceme.net
bounce? They should come through from gmail within a few minutes, I
would think, but they never do.

thanks,

thufir
