An e-mail from IOgear, if that sheds any light on it:



We do not have instructions for Linux. The IP set is the same on all 
operating systems. You first set the computer to a static IP Then you 
access the GWU627 through a browser to configure and attach to your 
wireless router

(They're describing a setup with two routers, plus the adapter.  
Technically, I think that the adapter is also a router.)
