It repeatedly tore down a working connection for me, in under a minute, I
went through this loop about 10-12 times when I installed 12.04.2LTS on
this machine, on a drive which is currently sitting on /dev/sdb. I have
one of those quick change 3 drive cages tiger-direct sells. So it boots
from whichever drive I have in the sda slot at powerup. Currently booted
to the 10.04.4 LTS install but running its newest kernel, 3.8.2.

Yes, and were canceled within the hour 2 or 3 years ago. No one seem able
to even entertain the idea that it could be broken. Back then it was still
wet behind the ears, but criticism was still not tolerated.
But lets get back to the dhcp problem that Liam says I've broken somehow,
and fix it so it Just Works?
Its supposed to work, but only very occasionally would it work for my
laptop, so its Mint14 install is now hard coded in the hosts file just like
the rest of the machines here. I boot it, it works. I do what I wanted to
do without fighting for hours to get a radio hookup that stays up long
enough to ping yahoo.com 5 or 6 times. And the signals are, in ham
parlance, 5 nines. 12 feet maximum range. I have one of those "wifi
walker" signal detectors.
I need to go get a prescription, so will be out of pocket for several
hours.
Thanks.
Cheers, Gene

You'll be called to a post requiring ability in handling groups of people.
A pen in the hand of this president is far more
dangerous than 200 million guns in the hands of
law-abiding citizens.
