I bought a Brother HL-3040CN for exactly that reason. It hardly ever
gets used but when I need to print something, I need it to just print,
properly, without screwing around for half a day getting blocked jets
cleared. So far, it has done just that.

You can also get the Brother drivers to work with CUPS on a headless
Ubuntu server. Then you only need to put the drivers on the server
rather than every PC. I wrote all about how I did it a few months ago.
