Converting the disk from basic to dynamic from windows

No other OS can use Windows Dynamic Disks, and it's an obsolete format.

Don't.

By the sound of it, your 4th partition is an extended partition.
Inside that, you have logical partitions for Ubuntu.

You can resize those & make as many logical partitions as you wish,
*inside* the extended partition.

You are only limited to 4 *primary* partitions - the extended one is
one of these.
