I'm using Brother MFC-7460DN and did not have any troubles with the
Brother drivers in Ubuntu 10.04, 12.04, Debian Squeeze and Weezy, Kubuntu
12.04, Fedora 18, OpenSUSE 12.2 and 12.3, and some other distros I've
tried.
There are a couple of things I've never bothered to try, and thus would
not know if they work. I never sent a fax directly from PC. And I do not
care even to try, since for me it's much easier to print a document out
and then to fax from MFC. I've also never tried to set up scanning from
MFC to PC, since I find it easier to scan from PC.
Otherwise the drivers were always easy to install and supported the
device in all its capacities wonderfully.
Brother, however, does not provide ppd file for my model. To have a
printer for which such a file is provided would be preferable.
Hope this helps.
