Grub reset

I was going across how windows removed the linux from boot list and how to
reset it.

I found this source that told how to re-add grub 2 after reinstalling
windows in dual boot with linux:

Does this work with latest ubuntu and windows 8? Or does windows 8 and the
latest ubuntu have different criteria to co-exist in dual boot?
