slow internet

A few more details:

Network controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL8191SEvA Wireless
LAN Controller (rev 10).   I completely loose the ability to use the
internet without rebooting.   Logging out does not help.  On some occasions
the router I am connected to completely disappears from the list.

This happens when I connected to 120 volt power.   I never use the battery
as it is just about shot.
