Desktop user interface issue

I have 2 Linux Boxes that I use often, both are Xubuntu 13.03.  The 
desktop interfaces are different, yet I thought that I installed xfce on 
both.

One (home): No mouse, several circles logo on lower right.  User Name in 
upper right on top bar, immediately to the left are the 4 workspace 
boxes.  They stay where they are as I open/close files.





Two (work):  Mouse on center of desktop.  Pawn (chess) logo is log 
on/off in center of top bar.  Work spaces are to the left.  They move as 
files are opened/closed.

I prefer the upper but I can't seem to fix it, even changing the 
interface when I log in.  As xfce is listed in both on the apps menu, I 
don't know which is which.
