As I and others have explained, what "Pastor JW" has given you is
*not* the old GNOME 2 and display manager. It is something that looks
a bit like it, built out of GNOME 3 components. It doesn't work the
same, you can't customise it and it has already been removed from the
current version of GNOME 3.
Xubuntu and Xfce is closer to GNOME 2 than GNOME 3 in Fallback Mode is.
