Hi,

Might not be related, but after my upgrade to 12.04, I had unity issues 
solved by:

gconftool-2 --recursive-unset /apps/compiz-1
unity --reset

NOTE: this resets unity to default all changes you have applied will be 
lost, treat as last resort!!
