Just set up a computer with 12.04 LTS. I installed mgetty.
I also installed mgetty doc and feel really stupid because I
can't find where the documentaion was placed on the machine
I thought it use to go in /usr/share/doc ? Anyway can
someone tell me where the documentation is located?
Also maybe someone has a suggestion on what has changed. I
copied the following file used for 10.04LTS to /etc/init/ttyS1
# ttyS1 - mgetty
#
# This service maintains a getty on tty1 from the point the
system is
# started until it is shut down again.
start on stopped rc RUNLEVEL=[2345]
stop on runlevel [!2345]
respawn
exec /sbin/mgetty -D ttyS1
When I try to dial in the modem fails to answer so I checked
out /var/log/mgetty and here is the log entry
0/25 15:47:43 yS1 mgetty: interim release 1.1.36-Jun15

It looks like the init of ttyS1 is failing to me but looking
online all I find are old HowTos that went with setting
this up back a few versions.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Linda
