Trying to use a Maxon USB Broadband modem with Ubuntu 12.04

Hi
I have been trying to set up this modem using a Telstra (AUS) datapack
account with a System 76 Laptop running ubuntu 12.04.
The modem works fine with Win XP (different Machine) using the Modem's
config program however there is no such thing for Linux.
The modem is being recognised in the network connections however it will not
go through the final stages and connect.
The Modem is a Maxon Model USB3-8521.
I think I have the modem setup correct
