In the past, I've found the best, surefire way of adding printers is to
deal directly with CUPS itself via <http://localhost:631>
You just add the printer(s) you want to share over the network to the
network option in admin & more often than not, all Linux boxes, assuming
they're joined to your LAN, will automatically pick the printer(s) up.
You'll generally find the printer drivers you need via Gutenberg in CUPS.
I'd advise avoiding the Printers option in Gnome/Unity's Settings like
the plague. IME, it causes more problems than it's worth.
