Formatting SD Memory Cards

Possibly when the manual was written SDHC did not exist.  If the
manual only mentions SD and not SDHC then it will probably not read
SDHC.  It is not the size of the card that is the problem, it is the
fact that it is SDHC which requires different hardware to drive it.
