I just installed xubuntu-desktop, and I still can't replicate in xubuntu
or xfce sessions:
$ cat /etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf
[SeatDefaults]
user-session=gnome-classic
greeter-session=unity-greeter
greeter-hide-users=true
