Mutt and Imap question/Alpine

Perhaps i misunderstood the term "remote mailboxes". I don't think i'm
as IT knowledgeable as yourself - i understand that to mean one simply
uses alpine through imap to access the folders on the server in my
case gmail. Basically using alpine instead of the gmail UI (goodbye to
adverts). It does mean one doesn't do conversations but the speed
compared with other gui email clients is lighteningly fast. I found
evolution and thunderbird almost unusable. Nothing wrong with mutt but
it took me about a week to get it going and it's too configurable for
me. Thing is with alpine it's been around for a while and a university
mail system well thought out -- if now rather out of date.

Yes you can do maildir in alpine and you were right about the patch.
The alpine list on google are a friendly helpful bunch.
